SENIOR FRONTEND SOFTWARE ENGINEER (STARLINK)


As a Senior Frontend Software Engineer you will shape the face of Starlink - SpaceX's high bandwidth, low latency satellite broadband network. You will work closely with users and SpaceX engineers to design and craft experiences that help consumers understand, set up, and manage their Starlink system themselves.

You are the engineer that other engineers can count on; you are technical, you attack every problem with enthusiasm; you remove hurdles. You are a self-starter, team player, have the hunger to venture into unknown areas and code, and make the system work.


RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Craft functionally and aesthetically flawless user experiences.

  • Deliver expert level TypeScript, HTML, and CSS for modern browsers and mobile apps.

  • Interface with other engineers to plan and organize the development of our products.

  • Influence how and what we build with demonstrated technical expertise.

  • Execute user research and requirements gathering for new and existing products.

  • Understand and implement technologies across the full web stack.

  • Manage the release life cycle and feature roadmap of our products.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or science discipline and 4+ years of experience in software development OR 6+ years of experience in software development.

  • Development experience in TypeScript, C++, Go, or Python.

  • Professional experience in developing software products with frontend or user experience focus.


PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Expert knowledge of TypeScript, HTML and CSS.

  • Deep understanding of user experience design principals and ability to contribute in design sessions.

  • Deep understanding of the whole web stack and strong desire to learn about new domains.

  • Experience with front end frameworks such as Polymer, React, Angular, or Backbone.

  • Experience with vector and motion graphics, including SVG, HTML5 Canvas, WebGL, and CSS.

  • Experience with mobile application development.

  • Excellent leadership, communication and teamwork skills.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed.

  • Must provide work samples and/or link to portfolio.


ITAR REQUIREMENTS:



  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
